South Bay
CATHOLIC-JEWISH
women's dialogue
Goal
The goal of the South Bay Catholic Jewish Women's Dialogue of Los Angeles is to promote understanding and good fellowship between women of these two faiths. The organization is open to all Jewish and Catholic women. Others interested in Interfaith Dialogue are also invited to attend our conferences.
History
In 1977, the Catholic-Jewish Women's Conference, , was founded to promote fellowship and mutual understanding between our two vital traditions. For over forty years their annual conference has drawn women from across the greater Los Angeles region into deeper dialogue and friendship. Catholic and Jewish women friends from the South Bay area of Los Angeles have attended these conferences for many years. In 2016, we were inspired to begin a forum of our own. We decided that a similar gathering where local women of both faith traditions could meet would be a great idea. We could hear women leaders of both faiths speak on relevant topics, exchange ideas, learn about our faith traditions, and, best of all, kindle new friendships.
Conference
Each year, usually in early May on a Tuesday, we hold our annual conference. We rotate between the participating churches and synagogues. We feature distinguished speakers from both faiths who address topics of mutual interest. This is followed by a question and answer session. We break for a catered lunch and then reconvene in small group dialogue discussions on the same topic. See the conference page for more information of the next conference.
